    We hold monthly support groups at our center to share our experiences and support one another. We also learn about our rights and the resources available in our community.

    Gender-Based Violence Prevention

    We provide advocacy services to women and young girls who are facing or are victims of domestic and sexual violence and provide support services to help them cope with other challenges they face.

    We also advocate for women of all ages faced with discrimination in any form, anywhere, and we advocate for equal opportunities for women, including economic and educational opportunities.

  • Community Health Work

    In Partnership with Maine CDC, we deploy Community Health Workers to address the challenges and barriers members of our communities face in accessing equitable healthcare services. CHW’s help reduce disparities in care and improve our clients’ health outcomes.

  • Nutrition Education

    We offer culturally appropriate nutrition classes. Learn about the importance of eating a balanced diet, and how to choose healthy foods that are culturally appropriate. We strive to empower the community so they can take control of their health, and help create a brighter, healthier future for everyone. We strongly believe that small changes to our diets can have a big impact on our health.

  • Public Health Education And Outreach

    Public Health Education and Outreach provides a comprehensive safety net for individuals and communities. Our goal is to ensure access to essential healthcare services and promote health and well-being for all. Through our programs and initiatives, we educate and empower individuals to make informed decisions about their health. We work closely with healthcare providers, community organizations, and government agencies to deliver outreach programs, health screenings, and educational campaigns.

    Her Safety Net provides education and outreach to people with limited communication and comprehension skills in multiple languages. We deploy videos, flyers, posters, and door-to-door outreach. Currently, we offer educational materials in multiple locally spoken languages that address major health conditions.

  • After School Program

    We provide free tutoring services to help school age children K-12. Tutors provide homework help to students at our center.

  • Go Back to School

    We support community members in achieving their educational goals. We provide support for adults to receive their GED. We also provide college access support including enrollment, the FAFSA application, and applying for scholarships.

    Training Classes

    We provide training classes to women on safety, immigration rights, and dealing with domestic violence and gender-based violence. Courses are taught in a culturally appropriate manner, using most of the spoken languages of Maine’s diverse immigrant community. All of our programs are designed to contribute to the personal, professional, health, and economic development of women.

  • Small Business Support

    We work with women who are seeking entrepreneurship skills by providing them with essential skills through trainings and seminars. We connect them with essential programs and services that are designed to help them realize their entrepreneurial goals and dreams.

  • Driving Education

    We are starting a comprehensive driving education program designed to empower and educate individuals on safe and responsible driving practices. Our courses cover a wide range of topics including traffic rules and regulations, road safety, and accident prevention. We prioritize creating a supportive and inclusive learning environment to ensure that all participants feel comfortable and confident behind the wheel. Whether you are a beginner or seeking to enhance your existing driving skills, Her Safety Net is committed to equipping you with the knowledge and confidence needed to become a skilled and responsible driver (Summer 2024)

  • Covid-19 Testing

    We provide COVID-19 tests to the L/A community at our office location and through the mail in an effort to reduce community transmission.
